The award ceremony was hosted by the China Taipei Management Research  Institute, and co-organized by the China Mainland Outstanding Taiwanese Businessmen Association and the China Taiwanese Businessmen Investment Management Association. So far, the "Award of Outstanding Mainland Taiwanese Businessmen in China" has been held for six sessions.

Chen Hongwen, from Taoyuan, Taiwan, China, enrolled in MBA of our school in 2001, and studied for a doctorate in enterprise management of our school in 2006. After graduating from National Cheng Kung University with a bachelor degree in Naval Architecture, he worked in a yacht factory in Taiwan. From the most basic draftsman to factory director, with his skills honed in the Taiwan's yacht industry for 12 years, and out of the love of architecture, Chen Hongwen spent 4 years in Tunghai University to get a master degree in architecture. In 1998, he came to the mainland and founded Jet-Tern Marine. After six years, the business grew rapidly. To further improve his management knowledge, Chen Hongwen decided to study MBA in Business School, Sun Yat-sen University and then obtain a doctorate in enterprise management. He would share what he learned with the company cadres in addition to earnest study. He said with a smile, "One person studies, and all staffs benefit. The tuition is quite cost-effective."

During his study in MBA, Chen Hongwen did not let go of the company's business. The performance of Jet-Tern Marine continued to grow in the past few years. Speaking of his entrepreneurship and learning path, he believes that it is the study of three majors "Naval Architecture, Architecture and Management" that makes him who he is now. Shipbuilding is also called Naval Architecture. In addition to its performance and structure, the shape, space and materials are closely related to Architecture; And the professional training of the MBA gives me a higher strategic vision."

When Chen Hongwen was studying MBA in Business School, Sun Yat-sen University, he was honored to be elected as the first president of the MBA Association. "As a Taiwanese student, it is a rare honor to be the president of a prestigious university in south China. This is my honor."

Since the establishment of his business, Chen Hong has designed and built nearly 400 yachts, which enjoys an international reputation. In early May 2017, he organized a team to take the Selene 60-feet "Koon Woon" yacht built by Jet-Tern Marine, set sail from Hong Kong, cross the Taiwan Strait, directly sail to the Hou-bi Lake Yacht Harbor, Pingtung, Kenting, bypass the Eluanbi Lighthouse the next day, visit the Green Island and Taitung Cheng Kung Fishing Port, then return to Hong Kong, for a trip of 14 days in total with voyage of 1,200 nautical miles. In addition to recording the beautiful scenery of the Taiwan Strait and the coast, he also became the first entrepreneur to directly sail across Taiwan and Mainland with the power yachts. And this trip was applied fully in accordance with the law, with legal entry and exit, and has written a historic chapter for the yacht cultural exchange between Tainwan and Mainland!

Congratulations again to alumnus Chen Hongwen and thanks for his contributions to the peace between Taiwan and Mainland.
