The "One-To-One" Activity of Our School's Teachers, Students And Alumni To Support The Students With Financial Difficulties In Fengqing County, Yunnan Province Achieved Complete Success In 2018
"Suffering from poverty for long and expecting to be well-off." The report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China solemnly promised that the poor people and poor areas will join the whole country in building a comprehensive well-off society. To fulfill the promise, we must mobilize the whole party, the whole nation, and all social forces, with the great power of more than 1.3 billion Chinese people, to focus on tackling poverty-stricken areas to get rid of poverty.
Fengqing county of Yunnan province is a state-level poverty-stricken county, located in a deep contiguous poverty-stricken area in western Yunnan, designated to be supported by Sun Yat-sen University. From May 2017, Yu Liren, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of our school, was appointed by the university as a temporary deputy magistrate to help alleviate poverty. In response to the call of the central government, in November 2017, the labor union, alumni association and Youth League Committee of our school launched the "one-to-one" project to fund students with family economic difficulties in Fengqing county(Tuanshan Primary School, Guodazhai Township, Fengqing County, Yunnan Province). The teachers, students and alumni of our school actively responded to the call. A total of three collectives, more than 90 teachers, students and alumni participated in the project, raised 128,000 yuan for the student aid, and funded 128 poor students.
On October 30th, 2018, our labor union, alumni association and Youth League Committee of our school continued to launch the "one to one" funding project in the 2018 academic year to support the students with economic difficulties in Fengqing County. The project is open to our faculty, alumni and students, adhere to the principle of voluntary. It can be individuals, families or groups to fund a student, and 1,000 yuan for each student per academic year. Within just one day, 124 poor students in Tuanshan Primary School, Guodazhai Township, Fengqing County, Yunnan Province were claimed to help. At the request of the teachers, students and alumni, and through the communication with relevant units in Fengqing County, our school has added a financial aid program (100 poor students) for the Qingshu Central School in Fengshan Town, Fengqing County, Yunnan Province.

The enthusiasm of our teachers, students and alumni to help the students is soaring. In just a week, 34 groups, 42 faculty members, more than 110 students and graduated alumni participated in the program, raised funds of 224,000 yuan and supported 124 poor students in Tuanshan Primary School, Guodazhai Township, Fengqing County and 100 poor students in Qingshu Central School in Fengshan Town.
The ceremony of issuing "one for one fraternity grant" regarding Sun Yat-sen University Business School's targeted poverty alleviation for Qingshu Central School of Fengshan Town, Fengqing County was held on November 20th, 2018. Professor Chen Chunsheng - secretary of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-sen University, Wu Jinghong - executive vice chairman of the school union, Gao Zhongxu - County Party Committee Standing Committee, secretary of the Party Committee of Fengshan Town, Yang Wenxia - deputy magistrate, Yu Liren - temporary deputy magistrate of Sun Yat-sen University, Yang Yongwang - county education bureau chief, Yang Shaobo - county Red Cross president, and other leaders of county and town attended the ceremony presided over by Yang Wenxia - deputy magistrate. Professor Chen Chunsheng - secretary of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-sen University, made a speech with ardent hope to encourage the children to study hard and strive to come to Sun Yat-sun University to study and give back to society after they have learned something.

At the ceremony, Yu Guojun - President of Tuanshan Primary School first read out the list of funded students, and expressed his gratitude for the care and love of teachers, students and alumni of Sun Yat-sen University Business School. Liu Jingyan - vice President of our school, made a speech and expressed her ardent expectation, cordial encouragement and affectionate blessings to the students. The funded students accepted the student grant one by one. The ceremony was presided over by Li Wenbin - member of the Guodazhai Township Government.

Introduction to the funded schools
Qingshu Central School is located in Qingshu Village, Fengshan Town, the northern suburb of Fengqing County, Yunnan province. It was founded in 1967 and has a history of 51 years. It serves the education and teaching of seven administrative villages including Luoxing Village and Hongtang Village, with nearly 20,000 population in the service area. There are 7 primary schools and 7 kindergartens under the Central School, with 970 primary school students and 270 children in school. Since 2015, Sun Yat-sen University has sent cadres to Luoxing Village and Hongtang Village to serve as the first secretary in the village. University and school leaders have also visited Luoxing Village and Hongtang Village many times for investigation.

In July 2017, Wang Fan - dean of our school, secretary Qi Xiaoping, associate dean Li Guangzhong, deputy secretary Yu Liren and director Chen Rongrong visited the Beauty Moutain Primary School under Qingshu Central School for investigation.
Guo Dazhai Township Primary School is located in Guo Dazhai Township, southwest of Fengqing County, Yunnan province (the Yi people's settlement), 98 kilometers away from the county. The traffic is extremely in convenient, and many students from poor families are facing drop-out of school. This school is a village-level primary school near the village linked by the temporary cadre of our school (Yu Liren - deputy magistrate of Fengqing county, and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-sun University Business School), and also a teaching and research practice base of our school.

In April 2018, the investigation team of poverty alleviation work of Sun Yat-sen University paid a return visit to Guo Dazhai Township Primary School.
