SYSBS Awarded EQUIS Accreditation

At 5:00 pm of June 14, 2011, the European Foundation for Management Development (EMFD) officially awarded the EQUIS Accreditation to Sun Yat-sen Business School (SYSBS) in a meeting held in Brussels, Belgium. With accreditation from the Association for MBAs (AMBA) in February 2010, this is the second international accreditation obtained by the school. Conferred to a select few of 130 schools worldwide since its foundation in 1997, the EQUIS accreditation is the hallmark of excellence for business and management education.

EQUIS, supported by a broad international body of academics and professionals, is a leading international system of quality assessment, improvement and accreditation of higher education institutions in management and business administration. The accreditation process involved extensive self-review, the preparation of a self-assessment report, and a demanding peer review conducted by the world’s leading business school deans and corporate executives. SYSBS’s self-assessment report was commended as the one of the best reports submitted by Chinese business schools in recent years for its clear structure, comprehensive content and writing. The peer review team visited SYSBS on March 8-10 for a three day accreditation visit during which they met with representatives of staff, students, alumni and corporate partnership. The review evaluated all the programmes offered as well as research, faculty development, student quality, research, internationalization, community outreach, among others. Through the extensive, stringent and thorough assessment, the peer review team concluded that in several areas the school exceeded international standards, such as the school leadership’s global vision, student quality, MBA program, social contribution and corporate connections.

Accreditation from the leading international system of quality assessment, EQUIS, provides a reliable indication of quality in business and management education.
