First from Mainland China! Yu Miaojie, alumnus of the School of Business, elected Fellow of the Royal Economic Society

Recently, the Royal Economic Society (RES) sent a letter of congratulations to Professor Yu Miaojie, President of Liaoning University and an alumnus from the 1993 cohort of the International Accounting undergraduate program at the School of Business, Sun Yat-sen University, congratulating him on his election as a Fellow of the Royal Economic Society (RES Fellow) and on being awarded the lifetime title of FREcon.

This marks the first time the Society has conferred this honor upon an economist from Chinese mainland, marking that the comprehensive influence of Chinese economists has gained high recognition from the international mainstream economics community. It is also another important breakthrough for Chinese economists on the world economics stage. Professor Yu Miaojie, as a mainland Chinese scholar among the first batch of founding fellows, stands alongside several Nobel laureates, which is a landmark event in this process.
