On the afternoon of December 1, 2018, the launching ceremony of EMBA Public Welfare Association and the exchange meeting of public welfare activities of Business School, Sun Yat-sen University was successfully held in the room M201 of Business School.
Qi Xiaoping, secretary of the CPC Party Committee of Business School, Sun Yat-sun University, attended the event and delivered a speech. On be half of the school, secretary Qi warmly congratulated the EMBA Public Welfare Association for its official launch and welcomed all alumni who are passionate about public welfare activities and return to the school for exchange and sharing. Secretary Qi introduced the development and achievements of the school to the alumni. Finally, secretary Qi hoped that the EMBA alumni can gather their spirit and strength, under the organization and guidance of the EMBA Public Welfare Association, unit the alumni who are passionate about public welfare and walk together along the way of public welfare.
Professor Liu Jingyan, associate dean of Business School, Sun Yat-sen University, shared the recent public welfare activities of the school. A week ago, dean Liu, on behalf of the school, went to Tuanshan Primary School, Guodazhai Township, Fengqing County, which's Sun Yat-sen University's target for poverty alleviation, to participate the ceremony of issuing "one for one fraternity grant". In the activity, dean Liu expressed her earnest expectation, cordial encouragement and affectionate blessings to the aided students, and felt love and hope growing together from the warm eyes of the children. More important for poverty alleviation is to support the hearts and aspirations of the poor. EMBA alumni of the Business School are an excellent group with sentiments and social responsibilities. Many EMBA alumni have been enthusiastic about public welfare activities for many years, and some alumni are full-time engaged in public welfare undertakings. It is of great significance to hold the exchange meeting of public welfare activities in the context of the country's fight against poverty. She hoped that in the future, under the organization of Public Welfare Association, the good heart, good deed and good ability of EMBA alumni can be fully exerted and reflected.
The logo of the EMBA Public Welfare Association was designed by Lu Zhongwei of the Whampoa 35th EMBA, represents the positive strength of EMBA alumni to unite and move forward together. The organizational structure of the EMBA Public Welfare Association: honorary presidents Zeng Yuchang (the Whampoa 1st EMBA) and Huang Weiqiang (the Whampoa 5th EMBA), president Ding Min (the Whampoa 8th EMBA), executive vice president Han Quan (the Whampoa 41st EMBA), and secretary general Xu Xianghui (the Whampoa 41st EMBA). At the same time, president Ding emphasized that the public welfare association is an open organization and welcomes more alumni who are passionate about public welfare activities to join.
Alumnus Han Quan - executive vice president of EMBA Public Welfare Association (the Whampoa 41st EMBA) reported the caring donation situation of the public welfare activity in Nyingchi, the donation list of equipments and instruments for obstetrics and gynecology in Zayü County People's Hospital, and the account details of caring donation for the poor households in Xueni Village. He hoped that love will grow in the activities of the public welfare association and help fight poverty.

Alumnus Xu Xianghui - secretary general of EMBA Public Welfare Association (the Whampoa 41st EMBA) gave a theme sharing of "Universal Love of Sun Yat-sen University Warms Zayü", and introduced in detail the scenes and thoughts of alumni of the public welfare association who traveled from Guangzhou to Zayü for public welfare activities, after an arduous journey for 9 days and 8,000 kilometers.
Alumnus Li Weiqing (the Whampoa 2nd EMBA) introduced the initiation, establishment, composition and fund raising methods, etc. of the Student Aid Foundation by the alumni enrolled in 2003. Since its establishment, the foundation has raised a total of 2.5 million yuan, donated 638,000 yuan, with 304 recipients of donation. It has successively funded outstanding poor students in Lu Feng, Shan Tou, Qing Yuan and Lian Jiang, etc.
Alumnus Xiong Mingxu (the Whampoa 5th EMBA) recalled that under the leadership of Huang Weiqiang, the whole class has continuously participated in the public welfare activities in Yunnan, Nyingchi of Tibet, Medog, Yushu of Qinghai, and other regions for many years. He presented with pictures and texts to show how they formed ties in the EMBA of Business School, Sun Yat-sen University in 2004, and learned that "life is a cycle from taking to giving back". Support the public welfare activities with practical actions and give back to the society.
Alumnus Kong Feng (the Whampoa 6th EMBA) introduced the public welfare activities of the students of Whampoa 6th EMBA to provide aid in construction of the Da Nan shan Overseas Chinese Qilian Primary School in Huilai County, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province from 2009 till now. During this period, we organized the teachers and students of the school to participate in the activity of "Walk out of the mountains and approach the art", and organized EMBA students and their children to join the class and interact with teachers and students. In 2014, we initiated and established a 10-year education and scholarship foundation to continue to support the construction of Qilian Primary School. Alumnus Kong Feng also introduced his classmate Liang Yunchao and his corporate social responsibility program of BY-HEALTH, which provided aid in construction for 16 schools and supported many social public welfare activities. If fully shows the spirit of the students of the Whampoa 6th EMBA who are enthusiastic about public welfare and conveying love.
Alumnus Cai Wenfang (the Whampoa 10th EMBA) gave a detailed introduction to the overall situation of the Rural Women Development Foundation Guangdong. In March 2013, the Rural Women Development Foundation was officially established with the support of students of the Whampoa 10th EMBA and the society. The foundation mainly helps and supports rural women and children. Alumnus Cai Wenfang made a comprehensive analysis of the plight of rural women and put forward systematic solutions. Through the establishment of Rural Women School, we created the public space, and helped rural women grow through continuous supervision and resource linkage. In order to help solve the problem of sex education for rural children, the Rural Women Development Foundation launched the "Growth Stories of Dingding and Doudou", which is also the first set of children's sex education animation video in China. The foundation has also launched a four-part simple and easy-to-use course plan with the animation. Teachers can use the course plan directly to set up sex education courses for children. In 2017, the Rural Women Development Foundation Guangdong won the TOP30 of China's Charity Credit List, and alumnus Cai Wenfang was voted as the 2017 Influential Public Welfare Figure. Thanks to the teachers and students who have been paying attention to and supporting the Rural Women Development Foundation, and welcome more EMBA alumni to pay attention to and support the Rural Women Development Foundation.
Alumnus Guo Hongli (the Whampoa 12th EMBA) shared the photos of earthquake relief. His words were simple but deeply rooted in people's hearts. Each photo recorded him stepping forward in a critical moment, racing against time, and guarding life with his life! Alumnus Guo Hongli is a veritable civil rescue pioneer, Urban Disaster Search and Rescue Expert of Shenzhen First Responder Rescue Team. He has participated in the earthquake relief work in Wenchuan, Yushu, Yongning, Nepal, Jiuzhaigou and other places successively, and participated in the flood relief work in Wuhan and the protection of crossing the Yangtze River in 2017. In 2018, he participated in Burma reservoir dam relief, Chaoshan flood relief, and Indonesia tsunami relief. In the critical moments of disaster relief, he always stepped forward bravely and rushed to the scene with various relief supplies to carry out relief. As he said: "When a major human disaster occurs, as long as I can get there, I will go." Through his hands, many vulnerable lives were saved under the brick and concrete, and he also did what he could, to actively donated money and supplies for the people in the disaster area and the damaged schools to help them through the difficulties. He was rated as "Earthquake Relief Advanced Individual" of Guangdong Province. As the media reported, for Guo Hongli, his ten years was like a roller-coaster ride. From "Earthquake Relief Hero" to wrongful imprisonment and acquittal, then founding the brand IUOC (patented technology of heating the nonflammable e-cigarettes), Guo Hongli has lived a life of perseverance and not yielding to fate. Public welfare in mind and practice of life is a true portrayal of him.
Alumnus Yuan Zhiming (the Whampoa 18th EMBA) introduced the whole class to raise more than 1 million yuan of caring donation and build the Shaoguan Hope Primary School of Sun Yat-sen University. Yuan Zhiming personally initiated and established the Southern Reading Public Welfare Foundation, which is the first public welfare fund for youth reading in China. It mainly funds the research on the youth reading development, public welfare projects for youth reading, and practices the publicity and promotion of the achievements of youth reading. Through the construction of public welfare “Reading Halls” in schools, libraries, children's palaces and communities, and "Reading Halls" for the left-behind children and migrant workers' children, the children are provided with balanced reading content, scientific guidance, rich reading forms and appropriate reading environment, which helps and promotes the development of reading activities, to realize the children's reading dreams - lighting up the children's life with reading! The construction of the "Reading Halls" will start from the towns and villages of Guangdong and gradually spread to the whole country, vigorously covering third-tier and fourth-tier cities and rural areas.
Alumnus Zheng Cheng (the Whampoa 22nd EMBA) introduced the public welfare activity of the whole class to donate the Yunnan Haoyi Dixi Public Welfare Primary School in 2009. The Haoyi Dixi Primary School has been running for nearly ten years, with maximum 80 students in the school. The school provides free accommodation and transportation services, and so far there have been three classes of graduates. The students of the Whampoa 22nd EMBA often visit the children in school, bring them clothes, books and joy, and encourage them to study hard and establish a positive and optimistic attitude towards life.
Alumnus Wang Runsheng (the Whampoa 24th EMBA) introduced the public welfare activity of the whole class to fund the poor college students in Xinjiang. The public welfare activity was launched in 2013, and raised 780,000 yuan to fund 26 Uyghur medical college students (5 years) in Kashgar, Xinjiang. In the process of engaging in public welfare activities, Wang Runsheng has been pondering the issue of poverty. He recommended "The Nature of Poverty" - a book by Benaghi (India) and Diffolo (French), which is short, concise, but with depth and insight. Over the past 15 years, two authors have gone deep into the world of the poor in many countries on five continents, investigated the 18 countries and regions where the poor are most concentrated, and explored the real roots of poverty from many aspects, such as daily life, education, health, entrepreneurship, aid, government, NGO, etc. Alumnus Wang Runsheng said that poverty alleviation is first and foremost to solve economic problems and solve the problem of food and clothing. But what is needed most is to help the poor from the aspects of ideology, consciousness and concept. Next, they are considering to organize public welfare activities to help the poor from the concept aspect.
Alumnus Zhou Hui (the Whampoa 26th EMBA) shared the public welfare story of Xu Yang Student Aid Group set up by the classmates. The original intention of the student aid group was mainly to connect with the teachers and students. I hope that the caring students will stick to it for a long time, not for fame and fortune, and do public welfare activities in a serious, practical and rigorous manner. The Xu Yang Student Aid Group was founded on July 1, 2013. It was voluntarily donated by the caring students of the Whampoa 26th EMBA. It adopts a one-on-one full-course aiding method with high security, to help the children of poor pneumoconiosis patients complete their studies by means of living support and material donations, etc. As of October 1, 2018, 177 children of pneumoconiosis patients have received full-course student aid for a total of 1,041,500 yuan. Pneumoconiosis patients are distributed in more than 10 provinces, including Guangdong, Guizhou, Guangxi, Hubei, Anhui, Sichuan, Hunan, Jiangxi, Shanxi, Liaoning, Fujian and Chongqing, etc., which has brought certain difficulties to the work of the Xu Yang Student Aid Group. However, great love is boundless, Xu Yang Student Aid Group's always on the way. Keep fighting! Dear students, you will be happy for the children's growth every day, will be wonderful for your kindness to others every month, will be elegant for encounter love every year. Life is more beautiful and brilliant because of kindness!
Alumnus Li Qinghua (the Whampoa 38th EMBA) shared the public welfare activities of the students supporting the music of the Lahu nationality in Lancang, Yunnan. The students gave guitars to the Lahu people as presents to help them pursue their music dreams. Alumnus Zhu Fangyu of the Whampoa 38th EMBA often participates in various public welfare and charity activities, donates money and materials, conveying love and positive energy. Alumnus Li Qinghua actively participates in various public welfare activities and gives away calligraphy works. As the inspiration of the students of Whampoa 38th EMBA, conveying love is a kind of happiness.
The atmosphere of the exchange meeting of EMBA alumni public welfare activities was warm, the present faculties and students deeply felt the brilliance of humanity from the kindness of ordinary people. Due to time, many classes were not able to attend the exchange meeting of public welfare activities, but their kindness and good deeds were also full of moral power moving the society.
“The trickle of kindness gathers being the sea, and of star of love gathers shining the sky.” It has become a tradition for the EMBA alumni of Business School, Sun Yat-sen University to engage in public welfare activities, the spiritual coordinate of each class. We look forward to more EMBA alumni joining the activities of the public welfare association, and let us walk together along the way of public welfare.
